Like us, Real Pickles is also a worker-owned co-operative. The inspiration for Real Pickles came in 1999 by happenstance when its founder Dan was exploring methods of fermentation. A mere two years later, Dan began to sell his fermented products. Real Pickles only buys vegetables from family farms located in the northeast, which is the only region where his products can be found.
The team at Real Pickles use lactic acid fermentation to make their products. It is the original pickling method, and has been an essential part of healthy human diets throughout the world for thousands of years.
You can find Real Pickles on our shelves; we personally recommend them to accompany delicious sandwiches, as a Bloody Mary garnish, or as a healthy snack all on its own!
