We all know (at least within the healthier-than-thou membership at the Coop) that whole-grain products are healthier than their processed, refined, “white” counterparts. And, knowing this—that whole-grains include all parts of the original kernel and are thus higher in fiber and nutrients—we tend to choose the more virtuous and health-promoting whole-wheat bread over the not-so-wonderful-for-your-health Wonder Bread or typical supermarket white bread variety.
But, when it comes to pasta, we tend to go for the widely available white spaghetti, ravioli, linguini, macaroni or fettuccini over the obviously healthier whole-wheat choice. Like bread, the stripped-down white stuff may boast a longer shelf-life and cheaper price tag, but it’s much less nutritious.
As we strive to provide the healthiest, most wholesome product variety to our members, we’re excited to now offer a delicious new whole-wheat pasta, which we expect will make the decision of whole-wheat over white an easier one. From Northern Farmhouse Pasta, a family-owned and operated pasta shop located in the legendary Catskill Mountains of New York, this tasty, good-for-you pasta has a nuttier flavor and grainier consistency than what most of us might be used to, and is sure to be your new pasta go-to. Buon appetito!
